Maryellen Bova is Director of The Goddess Center, a Personal Growth Practitioner, the Goddess Coach, a Certified Poetry Arts and Biblio Therapist and Journal to the Self Instructor, a Published Poet and Writer, Editor, and a National Board Certified English Teacher.
She created The Goddess Center to encourage women to tap into the self through a process called FINDING THE GODDESS WITHIN: a metaphor for personal empowerment, growth, and healing through the creative arts: Dialogue, Visualization, Imagery, Poetry and Journal Writing.
Maryellen helps women and their partners to look within to find the sacred voice to shout, scream, whisper, laugh, and craft a life of respect and value in couplehood.
She presents Goddess workshops in NYC, works with women at all stages of their lives to be empowered, presents her poetry and journal therapy techniques at conferences and with individual clients as well as at the NYSEC conferences to educators, and has volunteered at her local senior citizen’s center as a Legacy Writing facilitator. She works with writers to help them share their stories. She recently made a presenation to the New York State Drama Conference.
Her published poetry appears in Nassau Review, Black & White, Poetry Motel, Beyond the Margins, and N.A.P.T.
In 2009, her non-ficition chapter, "Tir na mBan," (Gaelic for Land of Women) appeared in Writing Away the Demons (NorthStar Press), showing testament of her own survival strategies through traumatic moments. She is an advocate for sexually abused and rape survivors and works with individuals to be free from labels.
She empowers women and their partners to take their power to create the life of wholeness.
In over 30 journals, she has written to heal and flourish as a Goddess (a woman who believes that life is worth living and who wishes to help others over the hurdles) and her dream is to create a world filled with peace and healing.
